Livestock Scales
If you are weighing livestock you know the importance of having a scale that is safe, durable, and accurate. Obtaining an accurate weight for your livestock is very important, especially in the farming industry. Your livestock weight helps to determine how much your animal should be fed, if the animal is at suitable breeding weight, signs of weakness or illness, the price of the animal in the event of selling it, or if the animal is not healthy enough and must be treated.  For the purpose of weighing livestock, the two types of scales that are primarily used are hanging scales and platform scales.

Hanging Scales
For weighing smaller animals, you may be interested in hanging scales. These scales tend to be lightweight and in most instances, they are portable. There are also high capacity hanging scales available. These are ideal for lifting and for force measurement. Bright Scales offers top of the line versatile high capacity hanging scales with integral stainless steel load sensor encased within high impact and high visibility solid red polyurethane and aircraft grade aluminum housing. These scales have an accuracy of 0.1% of full capacity and are great in farming and industrial settings.

Platform Scales
Platform Scales come in many different sizes with varying weight capacities. The standard capacities for these scales are 500lbs and up (sometimes exceeding 2,500 lbs). In looking for a platform scale, most people prefer units with low profiles. Low profile scales make it easier to load heavier items such as industrial, mechanical, shipping equipment, larger livestock, etc. Platform scales tend to have the highest accuracy when there are specialized alloy stainless steel load cells and cutting edge technology used to construct the scale. There are Ultra Precision platform scales available that offers 10 to 20 times the accuracy of an average scale. Stainless steel and welded construction are used on this scale for increased durability.

Counting Scales
These scales are most often found in the pharmaceutical and jewelry industries. Bright Scales offers a counting scale with “Quick Count” mode. This allows the scale count parts without confusing menu functions. You can even store the piece weight of as many as 450 different items with these scales. There is no set up dealer service required and it has automatic calibration.
