Senior Design Verification Engineer

  • Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Reporting to the Hardware Director, the successful candidate is responsible for all aspects of chip verification and bring up.

Required skills:

  • Experience with post silicon verification
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of prototype verification, both in the lab and on the test floor
  • A technology background including CPU, digital video processing, and digital audio processing
  • A strong background in ASIC
  • Previous design verification and current hands-on capabilities
  • A strong knowledge of ASIC design and manufacturing test methods

Duties Include:

  • Perform architecture modeling in C or equivalent
  • Create an RTL simulation environment from scratch that will accommodate third party IP
  • Write design verification plans, directed tests, and regression suites
  • Implement advanced verification techniques such as directed random testing and formal verification
  • Measure test coverage
  • Debug RTL and fault isolation
  • Perform Test insertion and ATPG
  • Develop simulations for generating functional test vectors to support ATE production testing
  • Test prototypes

Qualifications:

  • BSEE or equivalent (MSEE preferred)
  • Eight or more years experience in ASIC/IC design, or design verification
  • Experience in DFT
  • Expertise in Unix and Unix utilities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others
  • FPGA or hardware emulation experience

Senior ASIC Design Engineer

  • Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Reporting to the Hardware Director, the successful candidate is responsible for developing state of art system on chip solutions with integrated CPU, DDR memory interface control, and host interface logic.

Required skills:

  • A technology background including CPU, DDR control, video processing, and digital audio processing
  • A strong background in ASIC design techniques and tools with a proven track record of success

Duties Include:

  • Develop Architectural and micro-architectural specifications
  • Perform RTL Coding with Verilog
  • Perform synthesis
  • Analyze both pre- and post-layout static timing analysis
  • Perform test design
  • Perform debugging of RTL and fault isolation
  • Perform test insertion and ATPG

Qualifications:

Embedded Systems Software Engineer

  • Location: Sunnyvale, CA

BrightScale is seeking an experienced embedded systems software engineer to join our team in developing system software that enables the company’s innovative video processor SoC in the high growth HDTV application space.

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years experience in programming hardware features such as PCI, DMA, Interrupts, etc.
  • Prior experience in RTOS bring up under MIPS
  • Significant experience with system level multithread programming, including device driver development for embedded products
  • 3+ years experience in developing device drivers under Real Time Operating Systems
  • Prior experience in co-verification environments is a plus
  • Familiarity with board bring up and/or debug tools

Educational Requirements:

  • BS/MS in EE/CS with 5+ years of commercial programming experience in C/C++

BrightScale is seeking a Senior DSP Engineer to play a key role in the design and development of complex MPEG-2 and H.264 set-top box decoder ICs for satellite, cable, terrestrial, and IP markets.

Educational Requirements:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and 1-2 years on-the-job experience in implementing video(H.264,VC1,MPEG4) and image processing applications using DSPs.

Senior Physical Design Engineer

  • Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Reporting to the Hardware Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of the physical design, physical verification, timing analysis, power analysis, and noise analysis. A strong background in deep sub-micron techniques and CAD tool issues is required. A proven track record of at least 5 tape outs and state of the art hands-on experience is essential. Candidates should have strong skills in scripting, DFT, logic and circuit design.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute floor planning with both hierarchical and flat methodologies
  • Perform place & route at both block and chip levels
  • Provide back annotated static timing
  • Perform physical rule checking, DRC, LVS, ERC, and antennae rule checking
  • Prepare cell libraries
  • Run power and noise analysis
  • Evolve the physical design methodology
  • Serve as liaison to ASIC designers and EDA vendors

Required Skills:

  • Experience with a place and route tool, preferably Magma
  • Experience with PrimeTime, FormalPro, DFT, Magma and Calibre, or equivalent
  • Scripting experience with TCL, Perl, and C-shell
  • Expert knowledge of UNIX and UNIX utilities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others

Qualifications:

  • Eight or more years experience in ASIC/IC physical design

Senior Product Engineer

  • Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of chip qualification, characterization, and production control.

Requirements:

  • Experience with 130nm processes and below
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the entire chip production flow, from tape out to mass production, including test, packaging, qualification, characterization and yield enhancement
  • Experience with post silicon verification
  • Familiarity of all aspects of prototype verification in both the lab and the test floor
  • Ability to demonstrate that (s)he has successfully introduced several chips into mass production

Duties Include:

  • Interface with the wafer fab, test house, and package vendor
  • Define production hardware including probe cards and load boards
  • Track lot allocation, fab, split lots, wafer sort, assembly and test
  • Interpret WAT data and improve yield
  • Perform chip qualification and characterization
  • Perform failure analysis

Qualifications:

  • BSEE or equivalent (MSEE preferred)
  • Eight or more years experience in semiconductor product engineering
  • Experience in DFT, test vector generation, and state of the art production testers
  • Expert knowledge of JEDEC standards governing ESD, Latch-Up, HTOL, and HSTL
  • Expert user of Unix and Unix utilities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others

Principal Systems Engineer

Reporting to the Hardware Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of chip bring up and systems engineering.

Requirements:

  • A proven track record of board level high speed digital systems design
  • Familiarity with all aspects of PCB layout and manufacture
  • Familiarity with current packaging technology
  • Understanding of all aspects of prototype verification, both in the lab and on the production test floor
  • Ability to demonstrate strong board level debugging skills

Duties Include:

  • Perform Chip bring up and Fault Isolation
  • Design Digital Systems
  • Supervise External PCB manufacturer supervision
  • Perform failure analysis
  • Program Assembly Language

Qualifications:

  • BSEE or equivalent (MSEE preferred)
  • Ten or more years of experience in digital systems design
  • Familiarity with controlled impedance and signal integrity aspects of PCB layout
  • Familiarity with PCB tools such as OrCAD. Experience with DDR2, PCI, and JTAG is required
  • Familiarity with MIPS or other embedded processors is required
  • Experience with video standards such as MPEG2, I2S, SPDIF, CEA, and ITU656 video standards is preferred
  • Expert user of Unix utilities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others
